The Creators

Jim Foster

Jim is a retired Lutheran minister, who, in his words “lives on a river and makes cool stuff.” These days it’s mostly metal sculpture (with invisible seams!) and a painting or two. Notable works are a series of striking found metal crucifixes and intricate gear-infused clocks. He created the jetpack for his nephew Keith’s Steampunk cosplay. Keith’s immortal comment was “It needs more gears.”

Jim also writes. “The Thief, the Captain, and the River” is his first graphic novel. His sculptures have been featured at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art. You can find him on Facebook.

Christy McCulfor

Christy McCulfor (creator of graphic novel series EXTRA! and YouTube series Fairy Foxes) is an author and illustrator from West Michigan. She loves playing videogames with her husband and making up songs to sing for her cats.

Jack Snider

Strange visitor from another planet, Jack Snider wages a never-ending battle against the forces of mediocrity. Wielding his pencil, pen, brush and computer he has put his creative powers in the service of such notable companies as Marvel, DC, and Malibu Comics, toiled feverishly in the deadline wars on Looney Tunes, G.I. Joe, Star Trek, Terminator and Mortal Kombat intellectual properties. Valiantly he has collaborated on advertising campaigns, frequently creating comic advertising. He has with great zeal and fortitude illustrated volumes of children’s educational materials for publishers such as Houghton/Mifflin, Scholastic, ZonderKids, and many others. When not dynamically meeting these freelance tasks he is hard at work on his own comic stories and paintings. Wherever exciting cartoon and comic art is needed at reasonable billable rates, he is there!

Scott Rosema

Scott Rosema’s legendary career in the comic book industry spans over 30 years. He has worked for Marvel, Archie, DC Comics, Warner Bros., Dreamworks, Valiant, Disney, TSR, FASA, and many more. His pencils and inks have touched just about every character large and small during his long career.

His most recent and exciting project is the launching of the sword & sorcery comic book ERRANTRY. He plans to have copies available at all of his convention appearances.

Tim Lehmann

Tim has loved comics and all things drawn since he was a toddler. He’s the author of “Manga: Masters of the Art” (2005) and was a contributor to Paul Gravett’s “1,001 Comics You Must Read Before You Die” (2011).

He also loves travel and has been to more countries than Anthony Bourdain — with the international comics to prove it. He’s now in the process of donating that collection to Michigan libraries and universities.

Most importantly, Tim was unfathomably lucky enough to be Keith’s father!
